Dhofar, Oman – May 30, 2025 — Authorities in the Dhofar Governorate have launched an extensive search operation for a missing Omani citizen, whose disappearance was reported earlier this week.
The individual, reportedly in his mid-thirties, was last seen in the mountainous areas of Salalah on Monday. According to officials from the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the man was believed to have gone hiking and failed to return as expected.
Search and rescue teams, supported by drones and sniffer dogs, have been deployed across the rugged terrain. Local volunteers have also joined the efforts, combing through valleys and remote paths in a bid to locate the missing person.
“We are working around the clock to find him,” said an ROP spokesperson. “The terrain is challenging, especially with the fog and scattered rains affecting visibility and mobility in certain areas.”
Family members have issued a plea to the public, requesting anyone with relevant information to come forward. Meanwhile, authorities are urging residents and tourists in the area to remain vigilant and report any sightings or unusual activity.
The Dhofar region, known for its scenic landscapes and popular hiking spots, can become treacherous during the Khareef season due to unpredictable weather conditions.
As the search continues into its fourth day, the community remains hopeful for a safe return. More updates are expected as the operation progresses.
