These changes are part of an ongoing initiative to improve traffic flow and road safety in the capital region.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"442\" data-end=\"821\">According to an official statement, <strong data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"549\">Al Seeb Street before Al Zulfa Roundabout (towards the Muscat exit)<\/strong> will be <strong data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"578\">partially closed<\/strong> from the evening of <strong data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"623\">Tuesday, November 19<\/strong> until the morning of <strong data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"674\">Sunday, November 24, 2024<\/strong>. This closure will allow for essential road maintenance and repairs in the area, which has seen a significant increase in traffic in recent years.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"1068\">The Muscat Municipality urged motorists to exercise caution while driving through the area during this period. Drivers are advised to follow traffic instructions, use alternative routes where possible, and plan ahead to avoid unnecessary delays.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1070\" data-end=\"1285\">In addition to road maintenance, the <strong data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1171\">ROP has implemented temporary restrictions on truck movement<\/strong> during peak hours as part of a broader strategy to reduce congestion \u2014 especially during the busy Ramadan season.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1287\" data-end=\"1351\">The truck restrictions are in effect during the following hours:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1458\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1422\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1422\"><strong data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1377\">Sunday to Thursday:<\/strong> 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1458\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1458\"><strong data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1438\">Saturday:<\/strong> 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1675\">These restrictions apply to major roads, including Sultan Qaboos Road from the Al Qurum Interchange to the Khatmat Milaha Border Post, and Sultan Thuwayni Road from the Burj Al Sahwa Roundabout to the Bidbid Bridge.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1677\" data-end=\"1843\">The ROP has called on truck drivers to adhere to these restrictions in the interest of public safety and to support smoother traffic flow during high-traffic periods.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1845\" data-end=\"2131\">While the authorities are confident that these changes will lead to long-term improvements, some members of the public have expressed frustration. Residents have shared concerns on social media, noting that the changes, in some cases, have increased travel time rather than reducing it.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2353\">\u201cI used to pass Al Mouj by 8:05, now it\u2019s closer to 8:20. They say they\u2019re managing traffic, but it seems worse,\u201d said one commuter. Plans are underway to expand key highways, including the Muscat Expressway, which will eventually be widened to six lanes to accommodate the growing number of vehicles in the city.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2943\">During Ramadan, the ROP has also issued <strong data-start=\"2688\" data-end=\"2721\">safety guidelines for drivers<\/strong>. These include avoiding last-minute travel before Iftar, ensuring drivers are well-rested, and refraining from mobile phone use while driving.
