Muscat, May 31, 2025 — An Oman Air flight en route to Bangkok was forced to turn back shortly after takeoff on Friday due to a technical issue, the airline confirmed.
Flight WY815, which departed from Muscat International Airport bound for Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, experienced an unspecified technical problem mid-flight. As a precautionary measure, the pilot decided to return to Muscat to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew on board.
“Oman Air confirms that flight WY815 to Bangkok returned to Muscat shortly after departure due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely and without incident,” the airline said in a statement.
All passengers were safely disembarked upon return and were provided with refreshments and assistance. Oman Air has assured that efforts are being made to accommodate affected passengers on the next available flight.
The airline did not disclose the exact nature of the technical issue but stated that a full inspection and maintenance check are being carried out.
“Oman Air places the highest priority on safety and apologizes for the inconvenience caused,” the statement added.
Passengers praised the crew’s professionalism during the incident and expressed gratitude for the airline’s swift handling of the situation.
