Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Oman is experiencing a significant surge in development activities, aligning with the nation’s Vision 2040. The number of projects has increased from just eight in 2022 to 53 in 2025, marking a remarkable 562.5% growth.

The governorate is investing over OMR 16.2 million in road projects spanning 203 kilometers. Between 2022 and 2024, 245.5 kilometers of roads were developed at a cost of OMR 19.6 million, including 33 kilometers specifically for industrial zones.

Urban development initiatives include the Al Dakhiliyah Square (Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard) project, featuring 10 investment sites and 50 usufruct contracts across various sectors. The project aims to diversify the local economy and enhance commercial activity.

Tourism development is a key focus, with projects like the redevelopment of Misfat Al Abriyeen, now 40% complete, and the revitalization of the historic Al Aqar neighborhood. Misfat Al Abriyeen attracted over 115,000 visitors in 2024 alone.

The Jabal Shams Front Project in Wilayat of Al Hamra has announced six new investment opportunities totaling over OMR 5 million. These include a full-service tourism resort, a fixed-structure tourist camp, an adventure center, a coffee farm, a fruit farm, and a zip-line attraction.

The governorate is also focusing on youth empowerment, with initiatives like a dedicated award to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. Four specialized centers have been established to boost startups and skills training. The number of SMEs has surged past 14,200, supported by OMR 8 million in grants between December 2024 and February 2025.

Agricultural tourism is being promoted, with the cultivation of crops like pomegranates, roses, and olives in Jabal Akhdar and Jabal Shams. These efforts contribute to food security and offer immersive tourism experiences showcasing Omani rural life and sustainable farming.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate’s comprehensive development strategy underscores its commitment to economic diversification, cultural preservation, and community engagement, positioning it as a dynamic region within Oman.
